Up to 2000 plant sp – in SW part a special reserve for a living fossil, the Takhtajania perrieri tree – considered extinct on the Earth already 120 mil years ago; 11 kinds of lemur; tenrec, mongoos, more than 100 bird sp. – out of this about 70 % endemical for Madagascar, frogs, chameleons.

Description

60 500 ha, mountaineous massif created by volcanic rock and sediments, exceptional from the landscape point of view – amazing views from the mountains above the forest, biotopes – rain forest in the lowest places, mountain forest – above 800 m, in the highest places alpine vegetation (moss, lichen).

Possible activities

Difficult trekking mainly in high altitude.
