Characteristic

44 800 km2; Rolling grassy plains and low hills with rocky outcrops. Several rivers form a network of lakes, lagoons and channels. Altitude 80 - 1300 m. Largest game reserve in Africa. Reserve is listed in the List of World Nature Heritage of UNESCO. Typical ecosystems: woodlands, grasslands, river ecosystems, coastal swamps. Not very frequented by tourists (fly tse-tse).
