Central Tanzania; about 65 km southwest from Mikumi, 350 km from Dar es Salaam

Characteristic

1 990 km2; Mountain range about 130 km long which is a part of the Eastern Arc Mountains and its surroundings. Rainfall up to 2000 mm per year on Eastern slopes. National park altitude is 250 – 2 600 m. It has the second largest biodiversity of a national park in Africa. The park has high density of endemic plant and animal species. Typical ecosystems: tropical rain forest, cloud forest, forested savanna, grassland.
