393 km²; Flat area in the deltoid plain of the Mahaweli Ganga, peiodically flooded. Charcteristic ecosystems: the north of the park is dominated by dry evergreen forest, while to the south lays the sizeable flood plains. Extensive system of woodlands. lagoons, etc. Vital place for migratory and resident waterfowl.
