South Africa for clients with lower mobility
The itinerary of twelve days journey to Republic of South Africa - combination of eco-tourism and traditional tourism. Proposed journey is adapted for mobility handicapped clients.

Preliminary journey term: January 2010
Day 1
- On arrival at Johannesburg International airport meet & greet with our English-speaking guide.
- We proceed to the hotel via a Pretoria City Tour.
- Enjoy a visit to the capital city of Pretoria, see the home of Paul Kruger - now a museum,
- Enjoy the beauty of the Union Buildings - the seat of Administrative Government in South Africa, and view the huge Voortrekker Monument dedicated to the original Transvaal settlers.
- Drop off at the hotel in the afternoon just in time for check in at Indaba Hotel. (B)
Day 2
- After our Breakfast we depart to Middelburg and Belfast through the picturesque trout fishing area to Dullstroom.
- (Lunch break not included).
- We continue over the Long Tom Pass, via Sabie to Hazyview
- overnight stay at Sanbonani Resort.
- We have dinner together at the lodge. (BD)
Day 3
- The best time for game-viewing is the early morning or late afternoon so it is worth getting up early.
- We travel by coach to Phabeni Gate and enter the famous Kruger National Park.
- This park is one of the most famous game-reserves in the world, situated in an area of over 2 million ha, and crossed by 2400km of roads.
- As early as 1898 President Paul Kruger declared the area a national park.
- The park has a startling diversity in fauna and flora; with some luck one can spot the "Big Five".
- Lunch will be enjoyed en route with lunch boxes.
- Optional: It is even more exciting spending the day in an open vehicle which is not restricted to the tar roads in the park. A breakfast picnic can be enjoyed in the bush at one of the picnic sites. Surcharge per person ZAR 600 (has to be prebooked).
- Dinner together at the Sanbonani resort
Day 4
- Today after breakfast we will join a Panorama Route.
- Our first highlight will be the lookout point at the "Three Rondavels" with breath taking views over the 26km long Blyde River Canyon.
- We visit Bourke's Luck Potholes, the deep cylindrical cavities that were formed by river erosion of the Blyde- and Treur rivers.
- At the Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Blyde (Happy) and the Treur (Sad) Rivers meet up and form a magnificent display in the Blyde River Canyon 26 km long.
- We proceed to God's Window overwhelmingly beautiful viewpoint with a 1000m drop into the "Lowveld".
- Lunch will be enjoyed on route with lunch boxes.

Day 5
- After breakfast we say farewell to the staff of Sanbonani Resort and we make our way to Johannesburg International Airport.
- Collect lunch boxes from the hotel.
- Depart Johannesburg to George (Flight not included).
- On arrival at George Airport you will be met by a Representative of Albatros Travel and transferred to the hotel in Knysna.
- We are staying at Russel Hotel in Knysna
Day 6
- After breakfast we travel via Wilderness and George, over the majestic Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn.
- Oudtshoorn is the largest town in the Little Karoo and the Capital of ostrich farming.
- Our first visit will be to an ostrich farm for a demonstration and an educational tour around the ostriches before we enjoy a typical lunch (not included).
- Afterwards we drive to the Cango Caves, one of the most well known limestone formations in the world.
- After the tour we make our way over the pass back to Knysna.
- We are staying at Russel Hotel (BB)
Day 7
- After our Breakfast we travel to the indigenous forest of the Tsitsikamma National Park which the ancient San people called the "place of sparkling water", and home to ancient and huge yellowwood and stinkwood trees.
- Here we undertake a hike to the hanging footbridge across the Storms River Mouth.
- On our return to Knysna we visit Plettenberg Bay, the jewel of the Garden Route, with its sweeping bay of golden sand set against a mountainous backdrop.
- We return to Knysna in time to join a sun downer cruise from the Knysna Waterfront.

Day 8
- After breakfast we depart and travel to Swellendam.
- We reach the third oldest town in South Africa and enjoy our lunch.
- In the afternoon we will reach Cape Town, the Mother City of South Africa, via a city tour.
- Our tour through the Mother City starts off on route along the Castle of Good Hope, Heerengracht and Adderley Street, known for a variety of monuments, past the Groote Kerk and the Cultural Museum.
- After our excursion up Table Mountain (weather permitting - not included) the most well known landmark of Cape Town,
- we continue with a stroll through the former Vegetable Gardens of the Dutch East Indian Company.
- Enjoy a visit to the Malay Quarter, after driving through the scenic Tamboerskloof and Greenmarket Square, ending at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with its abundance of shops, restaurants and entertainment.
- We are staying at Ritz Hotel in Cape Town. (B)
Day 9
- On this day we travel via the coastal suburbs of Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay to Hout Bay the centre of the local fishing-industry.
- We proceed along the coast via scenic Chapman's Peak Drive affording spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean
- Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve which covers an area of 7680 ha.
- The reserve is home to eland, bontebok, grysbok, springbok, wildebeest, baboon and ostrich. Proteas and fynbos are the main features of the landscape.
- We walk up to Cape Point with its magnificent views.
- Lunch will be enjoyed at Black Marlin Restaurant. (Lunch is included).
- After lunch we visit the local Jackass Penguin Colony.
- Via the small coastal towns of Fishhoek and Muizenberg we travel inland to the Botanical Garden of Kirstenbosch, a showcase for a huge variety of Proteas and other indigenous plants, many of which are unique to the Cape Floral Kingdom.
- We are staying at Ritz Hotel in Cape Town. (BL)
Day 10
- In the morning we will be taken to the area known as the "Cape Flats" where we visit the townships of Guguletu and Langa.
- Experience first-hand the day-to-day activities of ordinary people, meet with workers and entrepreneurs, a traditional healer, have a drink at a shebeen (local tavern) and interact with the locals.
- We proceed to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, founded in 1679.
- We stroll through the heart of this historic town to experience the life of the early Dutch settlers.
- Another popular attraction is Oom Samie se Winkel, an old pioneer trading store selling a wide variety of items such as pots and pans to dried fish!
- Before we return to Cape Town we enjoy a cellar tour and wine tasting at a local wine estate.
- We are staying at Ritz Hotel in Cape Town.
Day 11
- Day at leisure
- After breakfast this day is at leisure to enjoy the facilities Cape Town has to offer.
- There are many options of things to do in Cape Town, enjoy shopping around the flea market at Greenmarket Square (Mo-Sa) or visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
- Situated in the heart of Cape Town's working harbour with the dramatic backdrop of the majestic Table Mountain
- Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is widely acknowledged as Cape Town's premier shopping and tourist destination and a well known entertainment hotspot.
- Here, an innovative fusion of history and modern convenience has resulted in a multi-purpose, dockside environment unlike any other in the world.
- If the weather permits you can see the town from above at Table Mountain.
- We are staying at Ritz Hotel in Cape Town (B)
Day 12
- After breakfast we check out from The Ritz Hotel.
- We will still have some time at leisure.
- Transfer to Cape Town International Airport for return flight.
