Landscape (ecosystem) selection
Proposed expeditions prepared by Albatros Travel and Expeditions according to an ecosystem or landscape type.
Have you some idea which type of landscape or ecosystem do you prefer to visit? Are you fascinated by mountains, forests, endless plains or coral sea?
There are only a few travel agencies, if any offering to clients some possibility to prepare a journey by some ecological phenomenon seleciton. You can try this choice. Albatros Travel and Expeditions has prepared a list of destinations worldwide according to prevailing landscape types and ecosystems. This system is offered here in a simple form for better orientation even for non-specialist. Just for an easy orientation we can set several basic landscape categories:
The most frequented ecotouristic destinations belong to terrestrial ecosystems. Various forest types are one of the most attractive destinations for ecotouristic visits. If you intend to visit some kind of forest, you can choose from our simple list and join Albatros Travel and Expeditions while travelling to: tropical rain forests , mountain or cloud forests , or dry tropical (subtropical) forests usually called bush. If you are not willing to visit such exotic ecosystems, there are lots of possibilities for travelling to temperate zone forests .
There are many tourists who cannot imagine their holidays without mountains. Individual mountains or mountain ranges can be found in all continents. Their hights and accessibility differs a lot - even walking or climbing can be either easy or very difficult, there. For your better orientation mountain national parks were divided into two categories - mountains and mountain ranges below 4000 m and mountains higher than 4000 meters . There are also Alpine and Arctic Ecosystemes - Alpine ones are closely connected with high mountains. These ecosystems are often unique with their beauty and rare flora and fauna species. Volcanoes are a specific category belonging also to mountain landscapes.
Third group of terrestrial ecosystems is attractive for everybody who doesn´t like to climb up mountains or struggle through a dense forest. You can choose among many lowland and flat national parks, often with very rich biodiversity and usually very easy accessible. In this category you can find grasslands or savannas and deserts or semi-deserts .
The rest of destinations offered by Albatros Travel and Expeditions is always somehow connected with water or mash ecosystems - either freshwater or sea. There are lots and lots beautiful places worldwide dominated just by water... Water is a very attractive phenomenon for many people to spend their holiday just close to it. For ecotouristic purposes can be these ecosystems divided into a few groups. Freshwater ecosystems are represented with rivers and lakes often closely connected with wetlands and swamps. Mangroves are very specific ecosystem connected with brackish or sea water. Marine and coastal ecosystems are very attractive especially for inland people. Corral reefs are such specific and attractive sea ecosystems that they have to be selected as a specific category in our list. And latest - sand dunes can be considered as some kind of transitional ecosystem between sea and mainland. There are often interesting fauna and flora communities in sand dunes.
Beside above mentioned categories closely connected with ecology criteria, there are three more slightly different categories which can be used for a trip selection as well. There are karst regions and caves which usually (but not always) seem to be a part of some mountains. Completely outside of ecology classification are categories of remarkable landscapes and remote national parks .
Using the landscape (ecosystem) selection you can choose exactly what you are interested in.
